lisa kudrow dec 2010 gi Lisa Kudrow: A 'Friends' reunion is 'really not happening'In the nine years since “Friends”
finished its run on NBC, the hit comedy has been plagued by rumors of a
reunion — none of which have ever been substantiated. The most recent
chatter arose in April 2013, when a seemingly-official photo touting “Friends: The One with the Reunion”
began circulating with a proposed date of Thanksgiving 2014. Warner
Bros. TV, which produced the show, quickly squashed the rumors and now
one of the stars of the show is affirming that a reunion will not ever
happen.

While promoting the Season 3 premiere of her new show “Web Therapy,” Lisa Kudrow spoke with CNN,
telling the news organization that, while there have never been plans
for a movie, the teaser even threw her for a loop. “Well, I knew there
wasn’t ever a movie. There was never a ‘Friends’ movie. Ever,” Kudrow
says. “So I’ve always known it’s not happening. But with this last rumor
someone came up with a great graphic with the couch and it looked like a
real teaser and I went, ‘Wait!'”

It was the fake story about
NBC’s alleged confirmation, which ran on a site called StarMedia, that
really gave the actress pause. “And then someone came up with a fake
story and got some publication to buy the lie that there was going to be
a reunion, so I saw on Twitter people were posting this article that
NBC was really going to do it,” Kudrow adds. “And I went, ‘Wait a
minute, was I not invited? Oh my God, maybe there is one and I wasn’t
asked to do it.’ I even had a moment where I believed it because
everything around it looked real. It was a good setup.”

Though it
may not be want fans want to hear, Kudrow asserts that a reunion is not
a reality. “The creators have put [the rumors] to rest,” she says. “NBC
has. I don’t know who else needs to say, ‘It’s really not happening.'”

Fans
looking for whatever sort of reunion among “Friends” actors they can
get would be wise to tune into “Web Therapy” when it premieres Tuesday
(July 23). Not only have Courtney Cox and David Schwimmer already popped up to tussle with Kudrow, but Season 3 will include a guest appearance from Matt LeBlanc. As Kudrow’s made clear — it’s the closest thing fans are going to get.

“Web Therapy” premieres Tuesday at 11 pm ET on Showtime.
