“Pacific Rim” is storming into theaters on July 12, but next week it will have a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con. Mondo is celebrating the release of Guillermo del Toro‘s latest film by premiering three new Comic-Con exclusive posters inspired by the project during the event.
The prints were unveiled by Entertainment Weekly, and will sell at Mondo’s booth from July 17 to July 21. The posters were designed by Kevin Tong (above), Ash Thorm and Vania Zouravliov (below, respectively).
“Mondo has always been instrumental in cementing world creation in pop culture — these posters by Ash Thorp and Kevin Tong and Vania Zouravliov capture perfectly the wild, gleeful spirit of Pacific Rim — here’s to a mad world of Mecha and Kaiju!!” del Toro says in a statement.
“Pacific Rim” follows a clash between giant human-commanded Jaeger mech robots and alien Jaeger creatures. These posters celebrate those battles, as well as recognize the human component of the story. It’s the balance of those two elements that have critics so excited in early reviews.
Starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinki Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman and Charlie Day, “Pacific Rim” is due in theaters Friday.
