Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed a baby boy into the world Monday afternoon (July 22) and could not be happier, both with the experience at the hospital and with parenthood.
“We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received. We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time,” the new parents say in a statement.
A spokesman for Kensington Palace adds, “Mother, son and father are all doing well this morning.” The statement also says the baby boy is not yet named, but that the family will leave the hospital either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
Prince William also says through a spokesman that they “could not be happier,” and Prince Charles adds that he is “enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time.”
