NBC is trying to ride the nostalgia train to success, as the network’s latest project would suggest.
The peacock is developing an adaptation of the 1994 movie “Reality Bites” as a half-hour comedy series, Variety reports. Ben Stiller is set to executive produce with screenwriter Helen Childress on board to write the pilot.
The new TV series will be based on the movie, revolving around recent college grad Lelaina as she struggles romantically and professionally in the recession-plagued, pre-Internet, early ’90s in Houston, where she shares an apartment with slacker friends.
The original 1994 movie starred Stiller, Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, and Janeane Garofalo.
