The world may be up in arms over Miley Cyrus‘ controversial performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (Aug. 25), but one person who has her back no matter what? Dear old dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.
“Of course I’ll always be here for Miley. Can’t wait to see her when she gets home,” Billy Ray tells Entertainment Tonight. “She’s still my little girl and I’m still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”
Miley’s twerkfest wasn’t looked upon too kindly, but the pop star hasn’t seemed to bothered by the negative reception. “Smilers! My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute,” she tweeted. “That’s more than the blackout or Superbowl!”
The VMA performance riled up the easily-riled Parents Television Council, who came down hard on MTV for Miley’s portion of the show: “MTV continues to sexual exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate ‘tweaking’ in a nude-colored bikini. How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14-year-olds?”
Do you think Miley’s performance deserves all the negativity it’s received?
