Zap2it: How do you describe Olivia?
Andie MacDowell: She is the voice of reason in the town. She has a really good heart. She is close to her community and really cares for people in her community. She is following in her father’s footsteps. She has been taught to care for people and be responsible. She is afraid to let her guard down sometimes. She is reserved unless she is with her best friend, Grace (played by Teryl Rothery), who is more crazy and fun and lets her be relaxed and fun. And her mother helps her too. She shot a scene the other day with Jack (Dylan Neal), when she was not reserved. There is a public side. She has an image she has to keep up.
Zap2it: Did you read Debbie Macomber’s books to prepare for this or just for pleasure?
Zap2it: Was a series something you had been seeking for a while?
Andie MacDowell: I have been looking for the correct television show to work on. TV is a great way to continue to work. There is so much interesting television right now. I would not leave when my kids were younger. I was raising them in North Carolina. My youngest daughter went to UNCSA (University of North Carolina School of the Arts). I asked myself, “What am I doing here? There are no kids. I am ready to go now.”
