Domonique Newburn, the 32-year-old transgender star of the reality web series “Hollywood Houseboys,” was found murdered her apartment in Fontana, Calif. on Aug. 20. Fontana Police Detective Rich Hunt tells KNBC that investigators “found evidence of a struggle, inside and outside.” The coroner says Newburn suffered “blunt trauma.”
“Hollywood Houseboys” is a YouTube docu-reality series that “opens the doors behind the daily lives of four gay friends, their relationships and how they form their own limelight into Hollywood.” Newburn had recently completed a shoot for the web series’ relaunch.
Police responded to a domestic violence call when they found Newburn dead. They currently have a suspect, as a man in his late 20s or early 30s who was around 5’8″ was seen leaving Newburn’s apartment in her car, a black 2004 Mercedes Benz C240. The car was found abandoned on Aug. 21.
“Hollywood Houseboys” creator Ryan Hope says in a statement, “We are all deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of our sister, Domonique Newburn. Domonique was an amazing person who’s spirit transcended gender. When we set out to document or lives for reality-television, we never once wished to make headlines like this. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with her family.”
