At the Sony press conference at Gamescom in Germany, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that one of the company’s biggest franchise is going to head to the big screen. A “Gran Turismo” movie, which was originally announced in July by The Wrap, is currently in the works.
This is the second big racing video game franchise to have a big screen adaptation head into production. A “Need for Speed” movie starring Aaron Paul is in production at Dreamworks. Both will go head-to-head with Universal’s “The Fast and the Furious” franchise.
“The Social Network” producers Michael de Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing the “Gran Turismo” movie. “One that I have been after for over three years. Finally,” Brunetti tweeted when the movie was announced.
