Fans of the 2010 film “Legion,” the story of mankind’s catastrophic war with an army of angels might soon continue on a TV near you.
“Dominion,” a pilot in the works at Syfy based on characters from the Paul Bettany film, has landed its first set of stars. On Friday (Sept. 6), the cable network announced that Christopher Egan (“Kings”), Alan Dale (“Lost”) and Tom Wisdom (“300”) have joined the project.
The series will pick up 25 years after the events in the movie, following the perilous journey of a rebellious young soldier who discovers he’s the unlikely savior of humanity, while the ultimate celestial battle touches down on Earth. Egan will play Alex Lannen, said rebellious soldier, an orphan serving as a “grunt” soldier in the Archangel Corp who’s destined for much more.
Wisdom is Michael, the greatest of the warrior archangels. Scarred by millennia of battle, Michael was instrumental in helping humanity defeat the angels during the Extermination War and is now entrenched in Vega (what once was Las Vegas), using his superior supernatural abilities to defend the city from enemy attacks.
Dale will portray Rysen, the general who led the humans to victory during the Extermination War. As the ruler of Vega, he must negotiate politics in the militarized city and maintain calm within its population, all while keeping his daughter Claire safe.
“Dominion” is set to begin production later this month in Cape Town, South Africa.
