Apple is going to make a big reveal next week, and many speculate that reveal will be of the iPhone 5S. With that announcement slated to take place at 10 a.m. PT on Sept. 10, rumors are swirling that the new iPhone will have a fingerprint scanner on the home button.
French website Nowhereelse.fr posted a leaked photo that shows the complicated technology that is going into the iPhone 5S’s home button. A square pad in the home button flex cable seems to be where a fingerprint scanner could be placed. The iPhone fingerprint scanner rumor started swirling months ago when references to a biometric fingerprint sensor showed up in old iOS 7 betas.
The iPhone 5S might not be the only announcement coming on Sept. 10. It’s also speculated that the iPhone 5C will be announced; a cheaper version of the iPhone offered in a variety of colors. The fact that the press invitations to the Apple event were incredibly colorful with the promise that the event “should brighten everyone’s day” only fueled the iPhone 5C speculation. Both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to be the first generations of the iPhone to be equipped with iOS 7.
