Anna Faris and Allison Janney are two strong leads on a sitcom that could be better — in fact, we think “Mom” would actually work better as a dramedy that lets itself be vulnerable without following up the serious moments with jokes of the low-hanging fruit variety.
The bones are definitely there for a strong comedy, not only with the terrific female leads but also a solid supporting cast with Christy’s kids and colleagues, plus the show had some really good heart-felt moments. But the show also had a distinctly old-fashioned feel to it and we just don’t know if it’s going to get any better.
What did you think of the “Mom” premiere? Will you be tuning in again?
