Patsy Swayze, a dance instructor and choreographer who was the mother of late actor Patrick Swayze, died this week at the age of 86, publicist Annett Wolf tells the AP. Swayze died Monday (Sept. 16) at her home in Simi Valley and no cause of death was given at this time.
Patsy Swayze was a dance teacher for years, with famed dancer Debbie Allen among her students. She taught at the University of Houston and chographed for the Houston Playhouse Center and Houston Youth Symphony and Ballet Company before moving to Hollywood in 1980 when she choreographed the movie “Urban Cowboy.”
All five of her children became dancers and/or actors, with Patrick, who passed away in 2009 from pancreatic cancer. They are both preceded in death by Patrick’s sister Vicky, and survived by the three other Swayze children, Don, Sean and Bora.
