Vanessa Redgrave is making her way to network TV.
The celebrated actress is set to co-star in ABC’s upcoming limited series “Black Box,” THR reports. The series, given a 13-episode order in June, centers on Elizabeth Black (Kelly Reilly), a famed neuroscientist who seems to have it all but struggles with mental illness — just one of the several secrets she keeps hidden from her fiance and her family.
Redgrave will portray Dr. Hartramph, Elizabeth’s psychiatrist and the only person who knows all of her secrets. The Oscar-winning actress’ previous forays into television include a starring role in PBS’ “Call the Midwife,” a guest spot in USA Network’s “Political Animals” and a recurring role on FX’s “Nip/Tuck.”
“Black Box,” executive produced by Bryan Singer and Ilene Chaiken (“The L Word”), doesn’t have a premiere date yet on ABC’s schedule, thought THR reports it’s being eyed for a January debut, depending on how the network’s fall line-up fares.
