“Baywatch” is coming up on its 25th anniversary, which means it’s high time for some of the show’s dirty dark secrets to come out. Stars Nicole Eggert and Traci Bingham have dished that they had contract clauses for the show that restricted them from gaining — or losing — more than a certain amount of weight.
“If you did anything to gain or lose weight, etc. you were in trouble,” Bingham tells Entertainment Tonight (via E! News). Eggert adds, “[There] was a five pound fluctuation you couldn’t go up or down.”
That’s a pretty strict diet, as five pounds can be gained or lost with natural body fluctuations. But considering the cast was frequently nearly naked in “Baywatch’s” iconic swimsuits, it makes sense that the show would require its stars to stay the same shape for their arcs.
At least Bingham and Eggert didn’t have to stick to the diets for too long. “Baywatch” ran from 1989 to 2001, but Egger’s Summer Quinn only appeared from 1992 to 1994, and Bingham’s Jordan Tate was only on the show from 1996 to 1998.
