Christina Milian‘s elimination from Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars” at the end of Monday’s (Oct. 14) episode (in only the fifth week of the season) came as quite a shock, no more so than to Milian and her dancing partner Mark Ballas.
Appearing on ABC’s “The View” the morning after their elimination, Milian stressed the importance of the fan votes after host Sherri Shepherd questioned how the duo could possibly be given the axe after receiving the season’s first perfect 10 earlier in the evening.
“We got great scores from the judges, but a lot of it is based on votes,” she said. “So you guys have to remember, just don’t think that the coast is clear just because somebody does a great performance. You really, really need the votes to keep the people on the show so I guess that would be the balance because at the end of the day it was, you know, No. 1 yesterday. At the top. But it’s the votes from the previous week, so…”
Ballas praised his partner, noting how much he enjoyed their time together, however brief. “She’s got great work ethic,” he gushed. “She’s a lovely person and I just had a great time every day we spent five or six hours a day together, and I just felt like our journey was a little short-lived.”
It’s not all disappointment for Milian, however. The singer has an album on the way, one she told the audience she’s quite proud of. “It’s gonna be a great album. I’m a woman now. I’ve matured. I’m a young mother who’s very independent, having a great time. I’m free in my life right now, so my album’s gonna be fresh, it’s gonna be sexy, it’s gonna be pop and urban and have some great features,” she said. “I’m hoping to get Mark on my album because Mark is an awesome artist, by the way. He’s really good. You guys gotta check him out.”
Do you think Milian and Ballas were eliminated too early?
