When Seth Meyers takes over talk show hosting from Jimmy Fallon, the new NBC show will be called “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” But David Letterman has a better idea for what he thinks the show should be called.
In a sneak peek at the Oct. 8 episode of “Late Night with David Letterman,” Letterman tries to convince Meyers to call his new talk show “The Tomorrow Show” like the NBC series of the same name that ran from 1973 to 1982. “Why not ‘Today’ show, ‘Tonight,’ ‘Tomorrow’? That’s the perfect trilogy, really. I’m giving this to you free! I’m putting a nail in my own coffin here!” Letterman says of the competing network.
Meyers seemed less than convinced by the idea Letterman clearly thought was brilliant. “I wish we talked yesterday, we just printed the mugs,” Meyers jokes.
Who knows, maybe a name change is in Letterman’s future as he extended his “Late Show” contract with CBS through 2015. Meyers, meanwhile, takes over “Late Night” on Feb. 24, 2014.
