“Homeland” viewers seem to have gotten on board with the Showtime series’ latest plot twist, because Season 3 is seeing its best numbers yet.
Season 3 episode 5, “The Yoga Play,” clocked in a cumulative viewership of 2.73 million viewers from both its broadcasts on Oct. 27. All told, it was up nine percent from the airing of “Game On” the week before and is a season high for the show.
“Homeland’s” big twist in episode 4 revealed that Carrie and Saul have actually been working together on a master plan to get Javadi, and that Saul’s seeming betrayal of Carrie in the first three episodes of Season 3 was all a ruse. Viewers began to see their plan unfold in episode 5, which could explain why viewers tuned in more than usual.
“The Yoga Play” was “Homeland’s” second-highest watched episode ever, coming in only behind the Season 2 finale. This episode had some pretty stiff competition considering it was up against the World Series and “The Walking Dead.” It will be interesting to see if these numbers continue to rise as the show builds towards its finale.
“Homeland” airs Sundays on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET.
