The latest TV news, in bite-sized snacky form.
Betty White‘s “Off Their Rockers,” the show featuring senior citizens pranking victims, was canceled by NBC earlier this year, but Lifetime has picked up the ball, ordering a third season. It will premiere in 2014, but no specific date has been announced yet. [THR]
“The Mentalist” has promoted a new actor to series regular — before his episodes have even aired. A pair of shows have been picked up by MTV — “Faking It,” about two teenagers who desperately want to fit in with their high school’s popular crowd, and “Happyland,” a teen comedy about the staff at an amusement park. Each show has received an 8-episode order. [MTV]
ABC has picked up two drama projects. The first is an unnamed show about an FBI forensic psychiatrist named Alice Jones who teams up with Vincent Smith, a Las Vegas magician, to catch criminals by setting up elaborate Las Vegas stings. The second is “The Law of Attraction,” a legal drama that pairs a beautiful, upper-class lawyer with lower class “tough guy” in order to save her father’s Boston law firm. [Deadline]
