John Lithgow is lending his golden pipes to “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” the new ABC adventure series that has spun off of popular family drama “Once Upon a Time.” Lithgow’s White Rabbit is about to have a couple big episodes and he teases for Zap2it that perhaps there’s more than meet’s the eye with his animated counterpart.
“He is not entirely to be trusted, says Lithgow. “But I consider him a good-hearted rabbit. He has good intentions, but he’s slightly … amoral.”
“Trust is an issue with the White Rabbit … he’s unpredictable,” Lithgow continues. “But my philosophy always is no matter what character you play, you’re on that character’s side. Even if you’re a villain, you’re on the villain’s side and you consider him to be right.”
“I’m not calling the White Rabbit a villain,” he chuckles. “But I’m saying I’m on his side.”
Part of what might make the audience wonder if the White Rabbit is villain or hero is because in the premiere episode, he was revealed to be working for the Red Queen. But why?
“That is exactly the question I want everybody to ask, ‘Why is he working for the Red Queen?’ The next episodes will answer those episodes, but I won’t,” teases Lithgow. “In upcoming episodes, you may judge the White Rabbit but you will also understand him. … There are things that have happened. The rabbit is operating under certain pressures.”
“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. For all the latest info, check out ABC’s official website.
