Rebel Wilson has always incorporated self-deprecating jokes about her fuller figure into roles throughout her career, but might the star of ABC’s “Super Fun Night” be willing to trade in the laughs for a lucrative spokesperson deal with a diet company?
RadarOnline reports that Wilson is being pursued by the likes of Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, hoping that the funny woman might follow in the footsteps of Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Hudson and Kirstie Alley.
“Rebel is asking for a fortune, but still looking at all the officer and is not ready to rule it out yet,” a source tells the website. While Radar points out that viewers “could get a front-row seat to see her slim down on her ABC series,” the source alleges that Wilson wouldn’t be making any decision simply to look skinnier.
“Rebel would be doing this strictly for the money,” the insider continues. “She’s built a comic persona out of being heavy and nobody in her world or at ABC is pressuring her to lose weight. It would only be for the cash and the exposure.”
Should Wilson sign a deal for the dough, it wouldn’t be the first time. In 2012, she served as the spokesperson for Jenny Craig Australia, during which time she wrote a blog for the company, chronicling her efforts to lose 55 pounds. A rep for the company tells Radar that Wilson is not under contract for their U.S. counterpart, nor has she ever been.
