Lifetime has released the first teaser for its movie adaptation of “Flowers in the Attic,” and by the looks of it, viewers will be in for an appropriately gothic take on V.C. Andrews’ novel.
The movie stars Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”) and Mason Dye as Cathy and Chris Dollanganger, who move with their mother, Corrinne (Heather Graham), to their grandparents’ mansion after their father dies unexpectedly. They’re forced to live in a small attic room, locked away from the world, where they become increasingly dependent on — and attracted to — one another. Ellen Burstyn also stars as their domineering grandmother, and “Orphan Black’s” Dylan Bruce plays Corinne’s second husband.
Kayla Alpert (“Up All Night”) wrote the screenplay for the movie, which Deborah Chow directed. “Flowers in the Attic” will premiere Jan. 18 on Lifetime.
