Most of the interview focused on Martin’s new picture book, “Santiago the Dreamer in Land Among the Stars,” and about the singer’s appearances of Broadway. The book, which draws from Martin’s own childhood, focuses on a little boy as he deals with rejection by depending on the support of his father.
Martin based the character on himself. “I was rejected from Menudo,” the singer shared of the pre-teen pop band that first made him famous decades ago.
But the singer had another motivation in writing the book — his twin sons. The boys are also Martin’s best critics. He knows he has to change things in his stories when the kids lose interest.
Both Kelly and Michael were enthusiastic about Ricky Martin’s Broadway endeavors and wanted to know if any more plays were coming up. “I love being on Broadway,” Maritn replied. “I don’t know, let’s see what happens! Maybe a one-man show?”
Unusually for a televised interview, Martin took to Instagram to post a photo from the stage. “I love social media!” he exclaimed.
