Kerry Washington, star of ABC’s “Scandal,” appeared on “The Queen Latifah Show” Thursday (Nov. 21), where she talked about how outstanding the writers are to keep coming up with such delicious material.
“Our writers are pretty extraordinary. I don’t know what they do in that writers room, but they come out with these magical scripts, full of twists and turns and intrigue. We’re very, very blessed to have the writers we have,” says Washington, adding that it’s not that hard to remember all the dialog when it’s coming from such an organic place.
“With really good writing, it makes sense emotionally. When it makes sense in your heart, it’s easier to remember the words,” says Washington.
But she also says the actors never have any idea what is coming.
“We don’t get any outline of the season. It’s part of why we love live-tweeting with our audiences because when you guys are like, ‘Whoa!’, that’s exactly how we felt when we read it,” says Washington.
Queen Latifah also asks her about the great “Saturday Night Live” sketch where Kerry played Oprah Winfrey — it turns out Queen Latifah recently dressed up as Oprah too, for Halloween. “All in good fun, Oprah!” exclaims Latifah. Ha! Picture below.
“Scandal” airs Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
