“Downton Abbey” star Hugh Bonneville stopped by ABC’s “The Chew” Tuesday (Dec. 17) to assist in making Oysters Rockefeller and also to divulge a few fun tidbits about both himself and the upcoming fourth season of the hit U.K. period drama.
His favorite American food: “I have to make a beeline for ribs … going to a really goor rib shack.”
Favorite One Direction member: Harry Styles
Worst job he ever had: “Cleaning toilets at a legal firm.”
Best holiday tradition: “Things like lighting the Christmas pudding and making sure it goes
around the table fully lit, so I have to follow with a flame thrower in
case it goes out.”
On being considered a sex symbol: “I think I would beg to differ, but it’s hilarious the way
people have taken all these characters to heart and amplified them. I
go to the supermarket and people are surprised I don’t have a labrador
On “Downton Abbey” Season 4: “It’s a bit gloomy to start with because Lady Mary’s in mourning for the loss of her husband. … This season really is about Lady Mary regrouping, or the house regrouping around Lady Mary. It does mean some gorgeous men come galloping over the horizon to try to convince her to marry them. We have some hunks coming in midway through the season.”
And will the show be killing him off? “As far as I know, I survive,” laughs Bonneville.
“Downton Abbey” Season 4 premieres in the U.S. Sunday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.
