“How I Met Your Mother” will finally fulfill its title with a one-hour series finale on March 31, 2014.
The finale date is a good six weeks before the end of the TV season, but it will allow “HIMYM” to air almost exclusively new episodes from the time it returns on Jan. 13. The show will air repeats on Feb. 10 and 17 opposite the Winter Olympics, but it will be all new episodes otherwise.
The show started production earlier than usual over the summer, so it should be able to make the early finale date without any problem.
Following the “How I Met Your Mother” finale on March 31, CBS will debut its new series “Friends With Better Lives,” about a group of friends who each think the others have it better. The cast includes “HIMYM” recurring player James Van Der Beek, Kevin Connolly (“Entourage”), Majandra Delfino and Brooklyn Decker.
Following the post-“HIMYM” preview, “Friends With Better Lives” will move to its regular home at 8:30 p.m. ET Mondays beginning April 7, leading into the NCAA basketball championship game. “2 Broke Girls” will take over the 8 p.m. spot starting April 14.
