As part of her “Cautionary Christmas Music Tale,” Kelly Clarkson performed “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music” — just a week after her “American Idol” compatriot Carrie Underwood performed it during “The Sound of Music Live!” So, which one do you like better?
The videos are below. We have to say, we love Kelly’s arrangement. It’s a terrific jazzy, big band version. However, say what you will about Carrie’s acting, but she and Audra McDonald were great on the vocals for the piece — even if we do like the song better when sung with the children like it is in the movie (the Mother Abbess scene is from the stage musical).
If you liked Clarkson, be sure to check out her new album, “Wrapped in Red.” It has “Favorite Things” and a plethora of other great holiday classics. And look for “Sound of Music Live” to rerun this Saturday, Dec. 14.
