Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick‘s daughter will be Miss Golden Globe at the 71st annual awards for TV and movies, which NBC will televise Sunday, Jan. 12. She’s embarking on her own acting career after appearing several times on her mom’s former TNT series “The Closer,” but she says her dad’s FOX suspense show — starting Season 2 with a preview episode Sunday, Jan. 19 — isn’t in the cards for her.
“I don’t think so,” she tells Zap2it. “I really want to get my own work and begin my own career before I do something else with my parents. I’ve spoken with my dad about it before, and he was like, ‘Umm … no. I really don’t want you to get killed on my show’.”
The younger Bacon would know what she was getting into, since with her father as its star, it’s logical she’s a “Following” follower. “I love it,” she maintains of the show. “I think it’s awesome. There are so many cliffhangers. I binge-watched it in a week over Christmas last year, and I think the acting on it is amazing, as on ‘The Closer.’ All the actors, not just my parents.”
While she’s been “spending a lot of time auditioning,” Bacon — who easily could double her mother’s voice, were it necessary — has found producers and casting directors “extremely gracious” when they realize what her heritage is.
“I think most of the time, people have some idea who I am, especially now that I’m more in the public eye,” she says. “I haven’t felt any negativity, so that’s nice. I’m lucky that we’re a pretty normal family.
“It’s hard for anyone to grow up around this business,” Bacon adds, “but the privileges you get from it far outweigh the negatives. And I feel lucky to have parents who are always supportive and there for me.”
