He might be another white guy with a guitar, but “American Idol” contestant Sam Woolf and his flawless audition might have made him the Season 13 premiere’s very first legitimate contender (with all due respect to Marialle Sellers, whose audition was pretty good too).
The teenager brought his acoustic guitar in front of the judges as he performed a slightly sped-up, lovely version of Ed Sheeran‘s “Lego House” that wowed Keith Urban in particular. Actually, all three judges loved the rendition, but Harry Connick Jr. wasn’t too impressed with the 17-year-old’s treble clef tattoo.
Well, actually, he liked that too, but he didn’t want to because his daughter is the same age and wants to get a tattoo, and this will make it harder for him to say no.
Sam is being raised by his grandparents, and when he walked out with his Golden Ticket his grandpa teared up, calling him “my amazing boy who never ceases to amaze me.” Aww!
