With a new executive producer and a new judging panel, “American Idol” Season 13 is filled with changes. Now, FOX has revealed the additions to the show, including the new “Hollywood or Home” round and “Rush Week.”
Here’s an outline of the changes, per FOX:
Hollywood or Home
Those who prove they have what it takes to move forward in the competition think they are headed to the “Hollywood” round. Not so fast: Contestants will have to compete in a surprise “Hollywood or Home” round, which airs Wednesday, Feb. 5. The judges will decide which hopefuls really have what it takes to become the next singing superstar. Some of the singers will be asked to perform one more time for the judges — and some won’t make the cut. Those who don’t make must head straight home — ouch.
The traditional group and solo performances will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Wednesday, Feb. 12 before a new twist on Thursday, Feb. 13: The top semi-finalists will be revealed.
In the first live episodes of the season, contestants will have their last chance to impress the judges and America. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, the 15 remaining female contestants will face their “Idol” fates; the 15 male contestants will do the same on the following night. On both Tuesday and Wednesday night, the voting lines will open immediately after each live show. On Thursday, Feb. 20, the Top 13 finalists will be revealed in the first results show from Los Angeles.
The finalists will perform live for the first time all together on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
“American Idol” Season 13 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
