The growing scandal over New Jersey Governor Chris Christie‘s office causing a major traffic jam as political retaliation is getting a lot of attention. Naturally, some of that attention is coming from “The Daily Show” and its host — a New Jersey native — Jon Stewart.
On the Wednesday (Jan. 8) airing of the “Daily Show,” Stewart called out Christie for the scandal and the governor’s total lack of apology for what happened. Christie instead pointed the finger at those in his office, promising to root out the culprit.
As Stewart puts it: “Somebody is definitely getting thrown under the bus here. Fortunately for them, the bus isn’t moving. It’s stuck in terrible traffic.”
Mostly, however, Stewart is disgusted with, as he calls it, the “p***-poor, third-rate quality of corruption” perpetrated by Christie’s office. The host points out that this is, after all, the state of “The Sopranos” and “Boardwalk Empire.” It’s also a state that recently saw corruption charges against the mayors of several large New Jersey cities, a group of rabbis and someone dealing in kidney trafficking.
Also, as Stewart gleefully points out, “There is literally a severed horse’s head on the state flag!”
