elizabeth moss golden globes gi Elizabeth Moss on lack of 'Mad Men' acting awards: 'I don't know why anyone wins these things'The 71st Annual Golden Globes on Sunday (Jan. 12) were a big night for Elizabeth Moss,
who took home the Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made
for TV statuette for her stellar work in Sundance Channel’s “Top of the Lake.”
Backstage, however, the press wanted to know what the actress thought
about that other show of hers and why it its actors never seem to take
top honors come award season.

While fielding questions, one reporter asked Moss, “Why do you think the cast of ‘Mad Men’ is overlooked award show time? Is it because your acting is so subtle in that show?”

“It
is one of the things I would not presume to be able to answer,” Moss
demurred. “I know that there is incredible excitement. I know Jon [Hamm] won. It was awesome and deserved. I think it is an awesome show, and I don’t know.”

“I
don’t know why anyone wins these things necessarily, although I am glad
that I did this year,” she continued. “I don’t have a good theory that
doesn’t make me sound ridiculous.”

After dedicating her win to
her mother during her acceptance speech, Moss also expounded on just why
her mom’s so special to her while backstage. “She drove me to ballet
class and she took me to every audition and she would be proud of me if I
was still sitting in that [car] seat,” she explained. “She’d be proud
of me if I was watching from home. So she believes in me, and this is —
so that’s why this was for her.”
