In the first head-to-head meeting during the regular season of both shows, the ABC Family drama trumped the CW drama by over 400,000 viewers, 2.4 million viewers vs. 1.98 million viewers — though that gap is not as big as when the two shows aired against each other back in October during the “Liars” annual Halloween special, which “PLL” won by nearly a million viewers.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, “Liars” also emerged victorious, with a 1.1 rating vs. “The Originals” at 0.9.
The “PLL” domination of Twitter also continued, with the broadcast generating nearly half a million tweets. The two-hour combo of the “PLL” Season 4b premiere rerun and the subsequent new episode actually amassed more tweets than the next 36 series telecasts combined (862,284 vs. 859,280).
