After hosting the Golden Globes in 2013, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler drew the ire of Taylor Swift for joking that Michael J. Fox should keep his son away from the singer. Shortly after, Swift quoted Katie Couric when referring to the joke, saying, “‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.'”
Fast forward to the 2014 Golden Globes and there weren’t any obvious digs at the country singer, but Fey still got a jab in. After Poehler won the award for Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy, Fey congratulated her and offered a subtle reminder, “there’s a special place for you in hell.”
The reference was easy to miss since it was all so nonchalant, but that’s the beauty of it. Poehler may have won the Globe, but Fey deserves some kind of trophy for that little moment.
