Jillian Michaels is finally opening up about her reaction to Season 15 winner of “The Biggest Loser” Rachel Frederickson and her stunning weight loss.
Michaels, who was visibly disturbed by Frederickson’s 155 pound loss when it was revealed live during the show’s Feb. 4 finale, yet only issued a perfunctory non-statement statement in the immediate aftermath, now admits she had no idea the transformation would be that extreme.
“Nobody told me, like, ‘Oh, hey, Rachel is very, very thin.’ Bob [Harper] and I had no idea,” Michaels tells HuffPost Live. “Nobody had told us. Nobody had said anything to us. So yes, I was stunned. Obviously, I thought she had lost too much weight.”
In Michaels’ estimation, Frederickson somehow fell through the cracks in the gap period between filming at the ranch and the finale. “I was immediately concerned and wondering how this happened,” she says. “In my opinion this had failed through those checks and balances.”
In the end, Michaels feels that Frederickson’s massive weight loss is a manifestation of the same emotional issues that caused her to gain weight in the past.
“With that said, anybody who gains too much weight or loses too much weight, ironically these are manifestations of the same issue,” she claims. “It simply means that somebody is utilizing their relationship with food to manage emotions that are painful, hard, difficult to face or control.”
