The cast is rapidly coming together for The CW’s new drama pilot, “iZombie,” from “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas. The show has added “Vampire Diaries” and “Alias” alum David Anders, “Breakout Kings” star Malcolm Goodwin, and former “Last Man Standing” regular Alexandra Krosney to the show’s pilot.
“iZombie” follows a med student-turned-zombie named Liv, who takes a job in the coroner’s office so she has easy access to the brains she needs to eat to maintain her humanity. A side effect to her diet are the memories she inherits from each brain she consumes, so she teams up with the medical examiner and a police detective to solve homicide cases and quiet the voices in her head.
Goodwin will play Clive, a detective whose less-than-stellar first two months on the homicide squad inspire him to team up with Liv despite his misgivings about her “psychic” powers. Krosney will play Peyton, Liv’s BFF and roommate. Anders will play the bad guy, Blaine, an entitled rich kid who runs into trouble when he dabbles in the drug business.
The show, which Thomas is co-creating with his “Veronica Mars” collaborator Diane Ruggiero, is the third series in the works at The CW that draws from DC Comics’ vast library.
