Aaron Carter really wants Hilary Duff back — and he doesn’t care who knows it.
The singer, who dated the former “Lizzie McGuire” star as a teen in the early 2000s, took to Twitter on Wednesday (March 5) with a startling (and sort-of cringeworthy) public declaration of love for the newly single Duff.
He continues, “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
Though it’s more than obvious he’s talking about Duff, he never names her outright. When a fan asks if it’s his ex who he’s talking about, though, he confirms the assumption in a tweet that’s since been deleted, though captured by People. “Sure am,” he says.
The timing of Carter’s public profession of love is particularly interesting, as Duff just recently separated from husband Mike Comrie in January. Since her split, the actress has been busy focusing on 22-month-old son Luca, an upcoming album and a new TV Land series — not dating.
Carter and Duff’s relationship was torn asunder back in the day when Lindsay Lohan entered the picture, putting the two Disney princesses at odds with one another for some time and Carter in the proverbial doghouse. Might he get a chance at redemption? Only time will tell.
