Turns out that Ellen DeGeneres’ record-breaking selfie isn’t hers after all. Though she orchestrated the photo, the rights to the image don’t belong to her.
As TMZ points out, the owner of the selfie is the person who took it — in this case, Bradley Cooper. Is that why DeGeneres was so concerned about who was holding the camera?
Considering the fact Cooper retweeted DeGeneres’ photo, chances are he’s not being too protective of the copyright on the image. But technically the rights are his, which could pay off big down the road.
