By now, “Glee” fans know that the show is planning a move to New York City in upcoming episodes. But those fans may not know that “Glee” might soon resemble an older city-based comedy, “Friends.” Lea Michele teased that this might be the case during an interview on “Live with Kelly and Michael” Friday (March 7).
Michele was mostly there to talk about her new album, “Louder” — which just reached No. 1 on the charts as of Thursday (March 6). But of course she had to talk about “Glee” and the show’s upcoming changes as well.
The move is coming after the 100th episode and will not include a focus on McKinley High School anymore. Instead, according to Michele, “It’s only like five or six cast members now in the city.” When asked about the new vibe, the singer and actress replied, “It’s kind of like ‘Friends’ … We get to do a lot of scenes eating, in the apartment, on the couch.”
Naturally, there will still be singing in “Glee.” Rachel’s role in “Funny Girl,” for one, will keep the music going.
But will “Glee” keep going when uprooted from Ohio in this way? Fans will find out soon enough. “Glee” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on FOX.
