Even though Ezra turned out to be a vengeful author who only got close to Aria so he could write a book about Alison’s disappearance, “Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale says there’s still a chance that the former lovebirds could reconcile.
“I feel like all the girls in general are pretty forgiving,” Hale tells Zap2it on the red carpet at the 2014 Paleyfest panel a few days before the Season 4 finale. “Especially with Ezra, I feel like she’s let him in when she shouldn’t have let him in and vice versa. So I want to say she will forgive him, but things are kind of up in the air with them right now.”
Ian Harding thinks that even if there is a chance, nothing will be the same as it was before. “I think they’ve been through a lot,” he says. “I think their relationship is going to be totally different now, especially after the finale — a lot is going to be called into question. It won’t be the same; it just can’t be the same.”
Although Harding didn’t know the dark direction Ezra’s story was going to take when he signed on to play the role, he has known about the twist for about a year and a half now — and he loves it.
“I think the girls maybe get a little bit more time to flesh out things, just because it’s their show,” he says, but he always wondered about Ezra’s motivations. “I just constantly was asking questions. ‘There’s got to be something here, the storyline of just simply dating a teenager [can’t be all].’ Yeah, that’s something, but he’s got something else going on. This is a good way of showing he’s a guy who’s clearly driven by obsession, and very obviously has a total disdain for the law.”
The “Pretty Little Liars” Season 4 finale airs Tuesday (March 18) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
