Okay, so nothing’s actually official. But judging from the persistent rumors surrounding the future of Naya Rivera on “Glee,” it sounds like Santana isn’t returning to New York City, Lima, or anywhere else Season 6 might be set.
She does appear in Tuesday’s (May 6) episode, “Old Dog New Tricks,” which was written by her co-star Chris Colfer, when Rachel tries to improve her reputation after the whole TV pilot debacle by hiring Santana as her publicist.
But Rivera was written out of the Season 5 finale, and despite the fact that no official decisions have been made regarding Season 6, the fact that different stories regarding her fighting with the producers keep popping up mean that it might be more real than they’re making it sound.
While Rivera is incredibly talented, “Glee” has suffered in recent years by trying to service all of its many characters. Although Santana is a fan favorite, her leaving will allow the writers to give happy endings to many of your other New Directions favorites — albeit without her sassy wit.
“Glee” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
