Hope Solo, one of the U.S. women’s national soccer team goalies, was arrested early Saturday (June 21) just after midnight in Seattle after police responded to a 911 call at a residence that stated a female at the home was “hitting people” and they could not get her to leave, reports the Seattle Times.
Police tells the Times that Solo appeared intoxicated and distraught. They observed “visible injuries” on Solo’s 17-year-old nephew and her sister. Once the officers determined that Solo had instigated the incident, she was arrested on two counts of 4th Degree Domestic Violence Assault and booked at the King County detention facility. Solo’s court appearance is scheduled for Monday, June 23.
Kirkland police Lt. Mike Murray tells the Times, “There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out of control situation.”
In addition to being a goalie for the Seattle Reign Football Club, Solo has won two soccer gold medals at the Olympics and appeared on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2011.
