allison williams peter pan Allison Williams will play Peter Pan in NBC's 'Peter Pan Live'“Girls” star Allison Williams will get to put her singing skills to use on more than ill-advised Edie Brickell covers in NBC’s “Peter Pan Live.”

Williams has landed the title role in the live musical production, the network’s follow-up to its hit “Sound of Music Live.” Williams joins the previously cast Christopher Walken, who’s playing Captain Hook.

“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” Williams says in a statement. “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt calls Williams a “lovely rising star on the award-winning show ‘Girls’ — where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent — and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish’ vulnerability and bravado to save the day.”

Stage productions of “Peter Pan” have typically cast a woman as Peter. Williams join a line of actresses playing the role that includes Mary Martin, Sandy Duncan and Cathy Rigby.

“Peter Pan Live” is scheduled to air Dec. 4 on NBC.
