Ellen DeGeneres is proving just how happy she is to be gearing up for Season 12 of her talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in the season’s latest promotional campaign. On hand to help the host spread the joy that’s in store for viewers of the program in the coming shows–the Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences Choir (DAAS).
DeGeneres was first introduced to the choir in April 2014, when a video of the Detroit, MI based group singing a spirited version of Pharrell’s hit, “Happy,” went viral and she immediately became a fan.
The talk show host isn’t the only one who DAAS made a powerful impression on, Pharrell himself credits the group for being proof to the world happiness doesn’t have to cost money.
DAAS is a charter school located in downtown Detroit, where the majority of attendees are underprivileged or homeless. Despite their challenges, the school strives to enrich the lives of their students through programs enriched in the arts.
