NBC is the latest network to sign up for a Bible series. “The Good Wife” alum Todd E. Kessler will be penning the mini-series being produced by Steve McPherson (former ABC Entertainment chief), according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

The new take on “The Ten Commandments” will be based on the Polish format “Decalogue,” which imagines the Commandments in a modern setting. The original series aired in 1989 with much critical acclaim, including likes from Roger Ebert and Stanley Kubrick. There series contains 10 one-hour films that examine one or several moral issues. 
NBC’s “Commandment” series follows in a trend of Bible series coming up in both broadcast and cable. WGN America also has a “Ten Commandments” series with a modern twist in the works with big names such as Gus Van Sant, Lee Daniels and Michael Cera attached to direct episodes. Lifetime is prepping “The Red Tent” about Biblical character Dinah and CBS has “The Dovekeepers” from the Old Testament in the works from “The Bible” creators Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.
