Dancing pro Karina Smirnoff is taking her twinkle toes back to “Dancing with the Stars.” Entertainment Weekly reports the Season 13 champ returns to the hit ABC show after taking a year off to star in indie film “Tango Shalom” and promote her book “We’re Just Not That Into You: Dating Disasters from the Trenches.”
“I was a little nervous about not dancing on the show at all last season. I was doing it for the last 10 years,” Smirnoff tells EW. “I had other things to do in my life, but not going back to the show felt like trying to see if I can walk on my own two feet! I’ve had obvious moments when I missed it.”
Although the Season 21 casting announcement is still weeks away, EW reports that Smirnoff’s fellow pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Witney Carson will also be back, with the rest of the competitors set to be announced in the next week.
“I’m excited and a little nervous,” admits Smirnoff. “Normally I can at least narrow it down a little bit, like whether it will be an athlete or an actor, but I have no idea.”
The Season 21 premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” airs Sept. 14 on ABC.
