On Monday’s (Aug. 10) “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” actress Winona Ryder confirmed that a “Beetlejuice” sequel is in the works — though she can’t say much more than that, because she doesn’t know anything.

“I think I can confirm it, because [director] Tim Burton did … it was very hush-hush, top secret, then he was doing some press for ‘Big Eyes’ and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing it. Winona’s gonna be in it.’ So can I say? If he said it!” says Ryder, adding, “I really don’t know much more than anybody else.”

She also says she loves how much little kids love the movie. “That they love ‘Beetlejuice,’ that must mean there’s something very sort of pure about it,” says the actress. She also reveals that people do ask her to say “Beetlejuice” all the time, including one time at airport security when the TSA (good-naturedly) wouldn’t let her through security until she said it.

Ryder was at “Late Night” to promote her new project, the HBO movie “Show Me a Hero,” but Meyers reveals to the audience that when she hosted “Saturday Night Live,” she was “the first person to play [his] bride.”

“It took me years to actually go propose to another woman because we had it pretty good. ,” Meyers quips.
