All of Lady Gaga’s little monsters were devastated to hear the news on Tuesday (July 19) that she and her fiance, Taylor Kinney, had broken off their engagement. The couple had been together for five years, and while a wedding date was never set, the two were always supportive of each other and seemed so in love.
According to TMZ, the couple actually broke things off earlier this month and Gaga was first seen without her massive heart-shaped engagement ring on her finger last week in Malibu. Now the “Bad Romance” singer has escaped to Mexico while her fans and the media digest the news.
So, what went wrong? Neither Gaga or Kinney have released statements yet, but with rumors already swirling that the 30-year-old Grammy winner would be releasing a new album by the end of the year, we can’t help but speculate if she’s going to take a not out of Taylor Swift’s handbook and turn this upcoming record into a tell-all series of break-up songs.
Gaga is the queen of reinvention and it would be interesting to see the eccentric singer, who’s been a rocking a glam Marilyn Monroe version of herself while promoting her jazz album with Tony Bennett, turn into a vulnerable guitar-strumming dreamer a la Swift’s “Love Story.” Well, she’d probably never go that basic, but with Gaga, anything’s possible
With such amazing vocal talent, a stripped down, acoustic break-up anthem might have people saying, “Adele who?” come Grammy time. Or maybe she and Adele could team up for a duet, creating a power ballad that will knock every listeners’ emotional socks off.
The Golden Globe winner, whose real name is Stephanie Germanotta, was already back in the studio working with producer Red One earlier this year, the same producer who helped create her early hits “Just Dance,” and “Poker Face.” While Digital Spy was predicting Gaga would go disco with her next album, perhaps after this broken engagement her next record will now go a completely different direction. And maybe she’ll turn these sad emotion lemons into something truly amazing, like what Beyonce did with “Lemonade.”
