How far will a Star Wars actor go to keep a secret? How far will Daisy Ridley go to keep a promise to her fans?

Those two questions clashed on Thursday (July 7), as Ridley posted a funny video to Instagram that had the 24-year-old British actress pumping iron while wearing … a pillowcase?

“It’s workout Wednesday, cause I don’t know if I have time to train Friday,” writes the star, posting an inspirational video of herself hitting the gym hard, for fans who try to keep up with the actor’s intense fitness regimen. “Ran to the gym between different set ups, so wore a pillowcase on my head to protect my Rey hairstyle from Instagram’s gaze.”

Hashtagging herself #TopEmployee and #SecrecyQueen, Ridley lifts barbells, does squats and other maneuvers in the video. So, what exactly is she hiding under there? Here are a few theories:

Princess Leia Buns

Seriously, could there possibly be a more crowd-pleasing reveal in Episode VIII than seeing Rey give a visual shout-out to her (maybe) mother? Or at the very least, she could be giving a shout-out to Princess Vespa from “Spaceballs,” right? The idea is intriguing … perhaps between takes, Ridley and her stylist have been watching this video for pointers.

Baldness

Could Daisy have shaved her head? There’s a long, proud tradition of sexy starlets shaving their heads for genre material. From Sigourney Weaver in “Alien 3” to Natalie Portman in “V for Vendetta” to Karen Gillan in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the seemingly-simple act of shearing can speak volumes about a character’s mental state — and indicate a raw, stripped down performance. It could be difficult for Daisy to keep such a secret — after all, you can only wear a pillowcase for so long — but then again, Gillan’s wigs fooled fans for sometime before she revealed her slick new look.

Cornrows

Slightly offensive, perhaps, but then again that’s never stopped Star Wars in the past. hey, if James Franco can rock the ‘rows, why couldn’t Rey? The only question would be if she was also going to wear the gold teeth.

Rat tail

As any good fan of the galaxy far, far away knows, padawan often wear a braid (or, as we call it here on Earth, a rat tail). The upside would be that such a revelation would seem to preface Rey’s training as a Jedi, and offer a rare callback to George Lucas’ prequels. The downside, of course, would be the same problem that came after “The Phantom Menace”: Untold numbers of children sporting rat tails.

A smaller Rey

Remember the Dr. Seuss sequel “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back“? In it, the Cat reveals that under his hat is another, smaller cat named Cat A — and under his hat is a smaller Cat B, and so on and so on. Wouldn’t that be an unsuspected revelation, to find out that there are dozens of increasingly smaller Reys under her pillowcase, ready to join the new rebel movement? You might laugh, but imagine the merchandising possibilities!

So, what is underneath that pillowcase? To get a peek, fans would have to get through Ridley herself — and based on the workout clip above, she’s one woman you don’t want to mess with.
