JoJo Fletcher returned on “The Bachelorette” after its two-week hiatus a new woman. Leaving all her waffling indecision back in Buenos Aires, she immediately nixed Alex after their one on one date, and then shocked the nation as she chose Chase, the guy with less personality than bag of rocks, over fan favorite and all around sweet guy, James Taylor.
Why would JoJo do such a thing? Fans were in tears over that final rose ceremony. Devastated that such an honest nice man was sent home in favor of Chase, the guy audiences forget is even still on the show. Seriously, how is he still around? Has he been here the whole time?
Okay, so he has. Good to know.
If you’re stewing over why Chase, master of fading into the background, the man who’s as interesting as beige wallpaper is getting the honor of a hometown date instead of James Taylor, the reason is simple. Just like us, JoJo still knows nothing about Chase. And maybe there’s more to him. (Fingers crossed).
JoJo has seen everything James Taylor has to offer. They had their ridiculously cheesy one on one date. JoJo has kissed him multiple times, for which it was clear there was no real passion brewing. And bless his country singing heart, but if Taylor wrote her one more song or poem, JoJo probably would’ve sent him home much earlier.
JT is the definition of a great guy who’s there for all the right reasons, but he had no chemistry with JoJo. She seemed to be aware of the fact that this is the man she should be attracted to, and kept him around as long as possible to see if she could fall for him, but it just wasn’t happening.
So why not go to Chase’s house? Maybe he has a super awesome family. Maybe the 27-year-old from Denver, Co. is camera shy and will open up once he’s in a more comfortable environment surrounded by friends in his hometown. Or maybe JoJo is just curious to see if his parents are mad scientists and Chase is actually one of the first life-like human robot droids of our time.

Finding out if there’s more to Chase than meets the eye is much more exciting than going to James Taylor’s house, and forcing a smile though what would for sure be a honky-tonk of a boring time. Keeping Chase in the game adds some much needed mystery, since we now know Jordan Rodger‘s hometown date will be famous brother free. Le sigh.
“The Bachelorette” airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
