'Vikings' SDCC comic book

“Vikings” is heading to San Diego Comic-Con to tease what’s still to come in the second half of Season 4, but thank the gods they’ve got another treat in store for fans who make the pilgrimage to San Diego.

Those who stop by the “Vikings” booth on the Comic-Con floor will be able to pick up a new comic book titled “The Bastard,” written by Ralph Tedesco and drawn by Andrea Mutti, to add to the ever-growing story of Ragnar Lothbrok, his sons and the people of Kattegat.

Tuesday (July 19) Zap2it can exclusively reveal the cover to the comic. According to a release from History, the story takes place prior to Ragnar’s arrive in Paris. “The action begins when the Vikings are attacked by a strong Frankish force near the town of Rheims, setting off a chain of events that force Ragnar to answer to his sons for his actions.”

There will also be two new characters introduced in the story — Clara and Tarben. According to the release, these people will impact Ragnar’s relationships with Aslaug and Bjorn.

While the events of this story take place prior to what’s unfolding on “Vikings” at the moment, it’s not clear whether Clara and Tarben will be introduced at some point on the show, even if via flashback.

So when you hit San Diego Comic-Con, don’t forget to drop by the “Vikings” booth (Booth #4215) to grab your copy.
